WORKS IN PROGRESS

I mainly work from sketches and photographs taken on location. I do these sketches in pencil, pen, charcoal, ink, acrylic paint - and sometimes in collage. It is very tricky collaging outside and messy too. I'm also rather shy and self-conscious; I don't like to draw attention to myself when sketching. I tend to do it in secret, much like a spy... I'm ruthless with my paintings. If I don't like something, I'm never afraid to change it. I like collage because it allows me to rip parts of my pictures out and start again - which, fortunately, only adds to the texture.

Here are some of my works in progress - the ones where I've remembered to take some photographs, anyway. Click on the images for a brief description of my process.
